Programs for Resettled Refugees

Contact

Heritage Aid Network provides a multitude of programs to assist refugees who have been resettled in Charlotte, NC. Our focus areas include

  • Fruitful Friends Program

Refugees often seek an American friend to practice their English, explore Charlotte, and get answers about life in a new culture. Our Fruitful Friends Program pairs American volunteers with refugee families to provide mentorship and friendship.

  • Refugee Help Center

Our Refugee Help Center provides a variety of assistance to refugees, including sorting and understanding mail, making telephone calls, completing government forms, and receiving fresh produce. We also offer family literacy opportunities, craft workshops, and more.

  • Educate Americans about Refugee Crises

We offer free Refugee 101 Workshops a few times each month. This workshop is required for becoming a volunteer, but it is also open to anyone who wants to learn more about the current worldwide refugee situation and how it impacts us here in Charlotte, NC.

  • Special Events

Heritage Aid Network sponsors fun events for our refugee friends and collaborates with other local agencies for some programs and events, such as World Refugee Day and Deer/Game Delivery.

  • Self-Sufficiency Workshops

Our self-sufficiency workshops include Nutrition & Cooking, Home-Buying & Credit-Building, Voting Clinic, Financial Literacy, Family First Aid, Personal Hygiene, and Home-Cleaning Tips & Techniques. These workshops are designed to help refugees become self-sufficient and integrate successfully into their new community.

  • Love & Learn

Our Love & Learn program provides a safe, loving, and nurturing environment for refugee families, including an indoor classroom and an outdoor playground. We aim to promote a love for learning and creative play for all children.
